In 2008, I graduated from the jewelry program Haywood Community College in western North Carolina. During my time at Haywood I learned many skills and techniques for working in metal, but I wanted to continue my education. I am currently in the metals program at Massachusetts College of Art & Design in Boston. I have been enjoying working with fiber and mixed media as well as metal and I can't wait to see my work evolve as I further my education at MassArt.

I enjoy utilizing an assortment of accumulated skills, materials, and tools to express myself. As a high school student I studied fashion design, construction and pattern making. Enchanted with the idea of being able to communicate my imagination through metal as well as fabric, I began making jewelry. Great pleasure is taken in the processes of designing and creating a piece of jewelry. When a piece is finished and has turned out well it conveys my conceptualization. Magnified floral textures, mechanisms and intuitive articulation are all part of this concept.
Attracted to the physical possibilities of metal, I prefer to work with the material directly and draw impressions from it. The evolution of an idea-the way that an original thought always evolves into something other than what was first imagined, is something that inspires me to create. There is an environment that exists within me that I want to illustrate. What cannot be articulated must be fabricated!
